Jericho — Russian Compound Tower

Jericho in the Crusader period was more of a sugar-producing agricultural centre than a fortified stronghold. A square tower near the Russian compound may preserve a small Frankish presence in the oasis, but its attribution is debated. The wider Crusader footprint in the Jordan Valley was mainly economic.
