Nephin (Anfeh)
Also known as Nephin, Anfeh, Enfeh

Peninsular fief of the Counts of Tripoli, built on a Phoenician site where the Crusaders executed one of the great engineering feats of the Middle Ages: a sea-level moat cut over 100 yards through living rock, severing the citadel from the mainland. The Lords of Nephin became notorious robber barons preying on Jerusalem–Tripoli traffic. Sultan Qalawun demolished the castle so thoroughly in 1289 that only the rock-cut moat survives.
