Burj al-Ahmar (The Red Tower)
Also known as Khirbat al-Burj al-'Atut, The Red Tower, Turris Latinae, Turriclee, Tourre-Rouge, Turris Rubea, H. Burgata

The 'Red Tower' was a Frankish hall-tower controlling a stretch of the coastal plain near modern Burgata. Rebuilt in stone in the twelfth century, it was held by the Templars, the Hospitallers, and at various times by secular lords. A tall standing wall and the foundations of a barrel-vaulted base still mark the site.
